Agriculture remains the backbone of Nigeria’s economy and a vital driver of employment, innovation, and food security.
The NASRDA / GBB Skill Empowerment Initiative recognizes the enormous potential of agribusiness as a pathway to economic empowerment, job creation, and sustainable development.

Through the Agribusiness & Food Security Program, we empower individuals, youth, and communities to explore opportunities across the agricultural value chain — from production to processing, packaging, and marketing — while promoting food sufficiency and national growth.

Program Overview

The Agribusiness & Food Security Program is designed to transform traditional farming into a profitable, technology-driven enterprise.
It aims to help participants understand modern agricultural practices, adopt digital and sustainable farming methods, and engage in agribusiness ventures that generate income and ensure food sustainability.

This initiative supports Nigeria’s Agricultural Transformation Agenda and contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — particularly Goal 2 (Zero Hunger), Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).

Objectives

The program aims to:

• Promote agricultural entrepreneurship and agribusiness innovation.

• Enhance food production and distribution systems through technology and sustainability.

• Empower farmers and youths to create profitable ventures within the agricultural value chain.

• Build capacity for modern and climate-smart agriculture.

• Reduce rural-urban migration by creating local employment opportunities.

• Strengthen food systems for national resilience and food security.

Program Components

1. Agribusiness Training & Capacity Building

Participants receive comprehensive training in:

• Crop and livestock production

• Agribusiness planning and management

• Greenhouse and hydroponic farming

• Fishery and aquaculture systems

• Poultry and animal husbandry

• Agritech innovations (drones, IoT sensors, precision farming)

• Agro-processing and value addition

• Supply chain and market access strategies

2. Food Security & Sustainability Projects

We promote community-based agricultural projects that support local food production, storage, and distribution.
This includes introducing smallholder farmers to climate-resilient farming techniques, organic farming, and post-harvest loss reduction technologies.

Through collaboration with research institutions and agritech startups, we help farmers access modern solutions for improved productivity and profitability.

3. Agri-Financing & Business Support

To ensure sustainability, participants receive guidance on:

• Accessing agricultural grants, government loans, and microcredit.

• Developing profitable agribusiness proposals.

• Connecting with cooperatives, investors, and funding partners.

• Managing agribusiness risk and financial planning.

4. Youth & Women in Agriculture Initiative

Special focus is given to young people and women, encouraging them to view agriculture not just as subsistence, but as a viable business opportunity.
We help them start and manage small-scale farms, agro-processing ventures, or produce distribution networks.

1. Training & Capacity Development – Classroom and field-based training on modern farming techniques.

2. Demonstration & Pilot Projects – Participants engage in hands-on farm demonstrations.

3. Mentorship & Market Linkages – Guidance from experienced agripreneurs and access to buyers or cooperatives.

4. Empowerment & Funding Support – Qualified participants may receive seed funding, tools, or farm inputs to start or expand their ventures.
